the approach

In the sessions, we use the arts to help young people express their feelings when they cannot find the words. This allows the young person to make sense of their world, and the medium, be it the paper, canvas or sand tray, acts as a container for the feeling, allowing for deeper reflection. The latest research on neuroscience and attachment theory underpins the work.

As a result, children will be able to move from reacting impulsively under stress to reflecting and making different choices. This allows the young person to stay with those ‘big feelings’ rather than just responding. This results in the young persons ‘window of tolerance widening so they can learn to self-regulate.

about me

I have an in-depth understanding of child and adolescent developmental theory; this has been shaped through my extensive training and direct experience working with young people in schools and private practice. I provide a space where the young person can feel safe and contained to freely express and process their inner world and the world around them. Don't hesitate to contact me to discuss how I work and how this could benefit your child and family.
